"For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.’’ Romans 8:29-30

Salvation is God's big idea. It is God’s work from first to last. It was He's idea even before the first man ever saw the light of the earth which makes it eternal. The God, who had the idea, is the same God who orchestrated it and who also was committed to bringing it to light. It is not man's idea and therefore, cannot be worked out by man.

What is salvation? It is the conforming of man to the image of Christ via His death and resurrection.

We need to understand that the predetermined purpose of God in bringing forth sons in the image of His Son, was settled in the divine council of the Godhead from eternity. It was in this same council which was before the foundation of the world that the Lamb of God was slain. The writer of the book of Hebrew also reiterate this truth in his explanation of the authenticity of the work of Christ in comparison to the Old Covenant, that His redemptive work was carried out in eternity; in a tabernacle not made with hands but in heaven itself beyond the reach of time.

‘‘He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of Heaven], not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us).’’ Hebrews 9:12 AMP

This idea was not to conform some from humanity into the image of His son as many assume, but to conform all of humanity. That’s why the Lamb of God was slain before the foundation of the world and we were chosen in Him even before we knew him.

Friends, salvation is simply the work of God from first to last. You can’t work it out by yourself neither can you lose it by what you did or didn’t do. It is an eternally secured packaged for us in Christ in whom we are made sons unto God.

‘‘Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving.’’ Ephesians 2:8-9

Grace to you.
